Choquequirao Exploring

Choquequirao trek to machu picchu, Choquequirao Trekking

The site was discovered in 1710, but still remains largely unrestored, giving it an air of mystery and a special atmosphere. Even though the site is impressive, access is more difficult compared to Machu Picchu, so most tourists do not visit it, making the experience much quieter and less crowded.

Choquequirao Archaeological Park

Choquequirao is an Inca archaeological complex located in the mountains of southern Peru, in the Apurímac region, at about 3,050 meters above sea level. Its name means "Cradle of Gold" in Quechua, which refers to the historical and cultural wealth it possesses. It is known as the "sacred sister" of Machu Picchu, since it is a similar Inca site, although much less visited and more accessible only through trekking.
